Planning A Get Together With Pool Party Games For Kids And Their Friends

By Tiffany Gill

There are few items that defeat the heat like your own pool with cool blue water in your yard tucked under a favorite shade tree. Lots of kids will go to great lengths finding friends so they may invite them to stop by and try swimming in it. Typically the difficult thing for parents is planning pool party games for kids that keeps them involved and interested while they are having fun.

When planning one of these get togethers, you do not need to spend a lot of money and in many cases a lot of time. What is important is that it is well thought out with activities that involve all the children so no one will feel left out. Doing this will not only help ensure more play dates but will ensure your place as a popular parent with happy friendly children.

One of the most critical items for any party is the theme. This is the thought or idea you are incorporating into it. It could be something as simple as a tropical theme with flowers or as complex as a superhero theme where everyone dresses like their favorite hero. Let your children brainstorm to come up with different ideas that make them happy. The idea is to let children use their imaginations to make it work.

Decorations are generally a must for most successful get togethers. They are what makes the mood and for most children they can often help build up the excitement for the special day. They should hopefully be inexpensive, simple and easy to clean up. A few inexpensive streamers, inflatable yard effects and some leis for your guests when they arrive.

Games are typically the best part of the party experience. Parents and their children can easily construct some homemade paper chains which help cut off various areas. You could have areas for different games, around your pool, the eating area or a kids only or parents only area. Always be sure to set firm ground rules that should be followed so everybody has fun.

There are many good games to try using. Find a coin is where you throw a coin or similar small object in the water to see who will bring it up the quickest. Balloon tossing is where kids toss a filled up water balloon back and forth using only a folded towel held tightly between two people.

Another game is called hose limbo. For this two children hold up a hose while another walks under it. Whichever child goes the lowest wins. Another group game is called marco polo. An it player swims in the pool yelling marco with their eyes shut. The other children yell polo. When someone is tagged they become a new it person.

Always wait at least 30 min after eating before jumping back in the water. Try working in a pinata some time at the end of the day. Every kid there will love that. Remember to have good supervision. Pool party games for kids are suppose to be fun, supervision makes sure they stay that way.
