Slow Down Ageing with Wrinkle Treatments

By Anne Fennell

As of late, big gains have been made in the area of cosmetic procedures, and facial wrinkles are a heavy focus in this. When one has wrinkles on their face, the nature of the world today looks at them like they are "older", and such a big value is placed on a youthful looking face.

What is the process of wrinkle treatments like? There are a lot of choices in where to receive these procedures, but what should a person know when considering treatment? Here we take a closer look at wrinkle treatments in general.

What are wrinkle treatments?

Toxins in the air are all around us, whether it comes from the exhaust from cars, the smoke from cigarettes, or the burning rays of the sun, skin takes it's share of damage and abuse. The skin forms these wrinkles that are seen on the face, and the more there is, the less attractive some people consider you to be, unfortunately.

Removing wrinkles is achieved by using botulinum toxin, as it is an effective wrinkle treatment. Other treatments can include chemical peels, laser treatments and even just plain old skin creams. While all of these are often used, it appears that botox injections are now becoming more and more popular. We see ads for products on the market constantly, but the truth is that anti-wrinkle creams can only do so much to make wrinkles less noticeable.

Which of the available treatments will have the most benefit?

At this time, this can not be answered with a high degree of certainty. Facial wrinkles respond differently to different treatments in different patients, so it is hard to say which one would work the best. The effectiveness of treatments using botox injections or other dermal fillers is well known, so more and more people appear to be choosing this method.

For how much time will a patient benefit from treatments?

The effects correlate to the particular treatment that is provided. The amount of time that a skin cream will be noticeable is not long, and daily use may not even make a big difference. The effects of dermal fillers such as botox treatments last for months, as these methods are superior.

Cost and cost efficiency

For treatments such as these, it can't be done for a bargain price. Advanced techniques such as dermal fillers, skin rejuvenation methods and botox injections can cost anywhere from $300 to $3000 (or even more) depending on the person that is performing the procedure. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. Treatments over time can be more closely examined, and the cost effectiveness of each one can be determined. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. There are also some doctors who make the claim that the most economical means of reducing wrinkles is by CO2 laser.

Downtime following procedures

No recovery time is necessary for skin creams. Of all the treatments on the market, microdermabrasion is looking to be the most speedy recovery when treating wrinkles. This of course does not mean that it is the greatest treatment available, or that patients prefer the treatment process any more, as it is reported to be kind of unpleasant.

Conclusion

A wide variety of treatments exist when it comes to facial wrinkle reduction processes. Each of them has their own upsides and downsides. There are many factors to consider, including cost, the type of treatment and the comfort of the process itself, and the experience and professional nature of the treatment provider.
